The mounting (12) connected to the casing (11) by two spring blades (13) can move vertically. A secondary frame (21) is hinged to a primary frame (20) belonging to the mounting. In a perpendicular direction, a feeler (23) is hinged to the secondary frame (21). The feeler thus has movement in all three orthogonal directions. A transducer (17) provides a signal in response to the displacement of the mounting (12). A transducer (32) provides a signal in response to the movement of the secondary frame with respect to the primary frame, and a third transducer indicates the displacement of the feeler with respect to the secondary frame. The signals from the transducers are transmitted by a radio transmitter to a remote radio receiver. The apparatus is used for measuring three mutually orthogonal co-ordinates on an object. <IMAGE>
