The composition contains, in ammoniacal aqueous solution, on the one hand an oxidation dye chosen from para-phenylenediamines, para-aminophenols and heterocyclic bases and, where appropriate a coupler, and on the other hand a 4,4'-diamino-, 4,4'-dihydroxy- or 4-amino-4'-hydroxy-substituted diphenylamine. After the addition of hydrogen peroxide, this composition dyes hair, imparting novel hues thereto.
