The load-bearing elements in the building roof are designed as beams (1). A load-bearing cover (3) is located above said beams (1) and followed by a thermally insulating layer (8). It is made possible to walk on said insulation layer (8) by means of a retaining and adhesive layer (11) which can bear loads. A vapour barrier (6) is fitted on the thermally insulating layer (8) consisting of plastic with closed pores. The beams (1) consist of an iron profile, concrete, wood or plastic and the load-bearing cover (3) consists of a profiled metal sheet, lightweight concrete or plastic. The insulation layer (8) comprises panel-type boards which have overlapping rebates (9). The retaining and adhesive layer (11) consists of sheet metal, e.g. aluminium sheet metal, or plastic. The boards (8) are laid with a spacing all around them in order to ensure free movement in the event of temperature changes. The retaining and adhesive layer (11) borders the upper, offset part of the boards (8) and covers them. A sealing skin (18) is adhesively bonded on the retaining and adhesive layer (11). This roof for halls and the like is watertight and thermally insulated and, despite this, is of a much simpler design than known roofs of the same quality.
