To allow guests to check on the running totals of items consumed an electrically operated calculator with a viewing window (7) visible on both sides is mounted in each guests'space at the hotel checkout desk and/or bar. The keyboard (6) of the calculator canbe closed by a protective cover which can interact with a further cover closing the viewing window on the guest side so that the keyboard can only be operated when the viewing window is open providing a safeguard for guests. The calculators of each space can be electrically combined and connected up to a central source.
