<p>The single-cylinder reciprocating IC engine functions on the two-stroke cycle. The piston (1) is of the stepped type, of smaller diameter at the top, and some at least of the transfer passages (3) to the combustion chamber are connected to the crankcase pump. One or more further transfer passages (4) are connected via a non-return valve (14) to the top end of the annular chamber (2) swept by the larger part of the piston. At the bottom, the annular chamber is connected via a further non-return valve (15) to an intake (7) for a rich fuel mixture, while a third such valve (16) connects the crankcase pump to a second intake (6) for air or weak mixture.</p> |
