<p>The shield provides protection to selected parts of a patient's body during radiological examination. It is in the form of a head supported on an arm (26) which is adjustable for height. The support (28) fits onto the X-ray table and has vertical rack teeth (28a) for pins (31, 32) in the head supporting bracket (27). This head comprises a stack (1) of plates, of metal and synthetic materials, including a lead plate (2). Spacers provide guides for four arms (4, 6) these having rack teeth and adjustable radially by a central knob (8). Each arm carries segments of lead sheet (10, 11, 12, 13) designed to cooperate with fixed segments (14, 15, 16, 17) for adjustable protective coverage.</p> |
