The h.v. connector for a t.v. c.r.t. has its contact (3) held in a rigid insulator (4) into which the h.v. cable (8, 9) passes. The insulator is enclosed in a flexible insulating cap (1). The insulator is cylindrical with an extension (2) to hold the cable and an internal ring (5) into which the contact fits. The cable's cross-section changes from circular to elliptical towards the point where it connects with the contact. The advantage of having a rigid insulator lies in its preventing a break with the cable, which would be more likely if it were elastic.
