The key operated lock is used for a vehicle steering wheel. A key sensor ensures that locking takes place only when the key is fully withdrawn from the keyhole. The key sensor rotating block (16) can rotate in a chamber (15) in the inner element (10). On rotating the block by insertion the dimension of the sensore block increases in the direction of the axis of relative rotation between the inner element (10) and external element (12). The inner element (10) slides relative to fixed stop (23) and acts against the force of the spring (14) for shifting the inner element.
