SAWMILL STOP ASSEMBLY MODULE

Disclosed is an apparatus for stopping the movement of selected timbers or other elongate bodies traveling along a predetermined course in a sawmill which comprises an impact member yieldably disposed at a preselected location along that course of travel, lifting means for selectively raising and lowering the impact member at the location along the course, and the lifting means supporting the impact means substantially vertically and perpendicularly with respect to the elongate bodies arriving along the course to the location therealong. Further, disclosed is an apparatus for positioning a timber or other elongate body traveling along a path at a preselected elevation in a sawmill which comprises a plate member movably disposed below the elevation at a predetermined location along the path, lifting means for elevating the plate through and at least partially above the top of the elevation to block movement of the body therealong, and a pair of vertical support members fixedly interconnected with and below the elevation. A pair of arm members are each pivotally connected at one end to one of the vertical support members and at the other end to the plate member, and a linking means pivotally interconnects the plate member with the lifting means and further pivotally interconnects the lifting means with the support members.
