<p>The present invention relates to an automatic sampler-injector for use in liquid chromatographic analytical procedures and to a method for automatically sampling and injecting consistently uniform volumes of solution into a liquid chromatographic column. There are two main parts to the automatic sampler-injector, namely a sample container in the form of an open ended cylinder with a stopper fitted into the open end which can be pierced by a needle and means for removing a sample from this sample container, measuring the sample and injecting the sample into the liquid chromatographic column. This means for removing a sample includes a sharply pointed hollow needle, means for positioning the sample container beneath the needle, means or contacting the stopper with the needle, a conduit connecting the needle with a ported valving system and a conduit connecting the liquid chromatographic column with the valving system.</p> |
