Engine bearing with four rubber blocks on core - has metal plates on outer block surfaces pressing on support framework

The engine bearing has four rubber blocks (5, 6) installed in a state of high compression within a metal framework (13) the blocks radiating from a square metal core (1) and rhomboidal or double wedge shaped cores can also be used. The outer plane block faces are covered with sheet steel (10) bearing on the framework whose opposed ends are both open. The assembled core and blocks is installed in the framework whilst subjecting the blocks to compression in one or both axial planes. Typically the core would be bolted to the engine and the housing to a chassis member.
