<p>PURPOSE:An alkali salt readily derived from an uridine derivative is reacted with an alkyl halide and the product is subjected to heating and desulfurization to give titled compound with carcinostatic and antiviral activities in high hield. CONSTITUTION:The reaction between a compound of formulaI(A is alkali salt; X is H, OR3 group; R1, R2, R3 are H, protecting group; R2, R3 may incroprate to one protecting group) and an alkyl halide of formula II (R4 is H, methyl; Y is halogen) such as alloy bromide is carried out in a solvent such as acetone to form a compound of formula III. The product is heat treated at temperature of 100- 200 deg.C and further the reaulting compound of formula IV is desulfurized by contacting with a catalyst such as Raney nickel in a solvent such as water at room temperature to refluxing to produce 5-alkyluridiene of formula V.</p> |
