PURPOSE:To provide a discharge lamp lighting apparatus, in which primary side of the transformer is provided with switching taps, so that secondary output voltage corresponding to the rating of the discharge lamp, connected between a first secondary output tap and the ground with a reactance element being interposed therebetween, is supplied at said output tap, whereby it is enabled to light various types of discharge lamp and to raise the overall power-factor of the input. CONSTITUTION:Primary side of transformer is provided with switching taps 4 to 6, and a first output tap (t1) is impressed with a secondary output voltage corresponding to the rating of dischrge lamp 1 which is connected between said output tap (t1) and the ground 0 with a reactance element 2 being interposed therebetween. On the other hand, secondary side is provided with a second secondary output tap (t2), the output voltage of which is lowered according as the number of turns of the switching taps 4 to 6, to which power source is connected, is increased, and transformer 7 having a powerfactor improving, phase-advancing capacitor 3 connected thereto is connected between said output tap (t2) and the ground 0. |
