The mountaineering rope is constructed in a sheath and core configuration, the sheath comprising a braided tube. The tube is braided in the form of a double sheath: an inner braided sheath contains the core of the rope, and an outer braided sheath is connected to the inner tube by an exchange of yarns between the two sheath tubes. The double sheath enables traction forces to be more uniformly distributed through the sheath and core, and changes in colour of the rope can be effected along its length by altering the yarns of the braid, with no irregularities becoming apparent on the surface of the rope.
|
