The rotary air stop valve delivers material into a conduit etc. under pressure, having a liner containing a rotor. The surface area of one of the sliding surfaces of a first component movable in relation to a second one very close to it is reduced by tapering or chamfering, thus reducing the wear rate. The rotor can have a number of blades (12) supported directly or via supporting members (18) in a cylindrical hub (10). Each end of the hub has a coaxial trunnion of smaller diameter (16) supporting it in the valve body, while the hub ends are chamfered (36) to the trunnion diameter.
