There is a primary expansion restrictor in the circuit between the condenser and the evaporator, at least one additional expansion restrictor is provided. Each additional expansion restrictor communicates with a return line. This passes at least a proportion of the refrigerant vapour to at least one part of the compressor located between the compressor inlet and outlet ports. The additional restrictor (s) may be in series with the primary restrictor and the evaporator.
