Machine for corking bottles - blows corks from hopper free of dust and compresses them before inserting into necks with reciprocating plunger

The machine automatically inserts corks into bottles and comprises an overhead hopper (10) fitted with an inclined base (11). This is oscillated to feed the corks (9) into a unit (4) where they are compressed between jaws before inserting into the bottle neck (3). An air tube (23) also blows all dust away. A crank and lever (7, 8) imparts reciprocating motion to the plunger (21) pushing the corks into the bottles. A spigot (16) on the plunger arm (5) enters a groove (15) in a cylinder cam (14) to oscillate the hopper base and a face cam (19) operates the compression jaws.
