The generator provides a high quality spark for internal combustion engine ignition. The circuit can contain as few as seven components and provides a high dI/dT such that voltages in excess of 50,000 can be obtained from a normal ignition coil. The ignition output can be initiated either by low voltage pulses or by a mechanical interrupter switch, the former being provided with the usual advance and retard control. The three transistor circuit has its output stage protected by a voltage sensitive resistor, normally silicon carbide, and uses the output as feedback for the control stage.
