Colour pigments for coating pharmaceutical tablets

Pharmaceutical tablets are claimed comprising a substrate contg. a medicament, with a coating on the substrate comprising a natural water-insoluble edible powder coloured with an edible natural dye. The coloured powders are excellent pigments for colouring pharmaceutical tablets. They have a high colour intensity which does not run in water, and are freely usable under the FD&C and D&C regulations for permitted dyes for foodstuff use.
