A puzzle toy consisting of a body member, a rod-like member adapted to be inserted into an aperture of said body member, and a locking mechanism operable to engage and secure said rod in said body member, said locking mechanism being releasable by a pre-determined but secret relative movement of said body member and said rod to permit withdrawal of said rod, with or without additional mechanism further preventing release of said locking mechanism or withdrawal of said rod, said further mechanism being operable by predetermined movements or positioning of the body member itself, or by positioning a magnet adjacent the exterior of said body member.
