The brushless d.c. motor has a short axial length and consists of a permanently magnetic rotor and a hollow cylindrical stator winding in the stator's magnetic return path piece. The rotor (12) has n pairs of poles and the stator winding (5) has n winding sections. The bearings (6) are located inside the stator winding (5). The stator winding and the magnetic return piece (2) that encloses it are located in a pot-shaped casing (1). The stator winding has axial projections (11) that engage the base of the casing and a cover (9) acting as bearing plate.
