Alarm for swimming pool safety - has float sensor including mercury capsule responsive to surface disturbance to trigger alarm

The safety alarm is for swimming pools and is sensitive to motion of the water surface. The alarm is intended to be energised whenever a body enters the water, and so provides protection for small children. The sensor is located within a sealed float (2) that has an adjustment screw (3) to allow the trigger point to be varied. The control console (6) is wall mounted and is cable coupled to the float. The sensing element consists of a mercury filled capsule that closes contacts when excited and in so doing triggers the alarm.
