<p>Photocurable materials which are soluble in aq. alkaline media. comprising (a) a polymer contg. >=10 wt. % (meth)acrylic esters or -amides in which the ester or amide gp. contains an org. residue bound by a -CO-NH-SO2- bridge and (b) a photo cross-linking agent e.g. an org. di- or polyazide. Suitable polymers can be prepd e.g. by reacting (meth)acrylic (co)polymers contg. active OH, NH or -NH2 gps. with a sulphoisocyanate e.g. p-tosylisocyanate. The polymers are film-forming and can be applied from soln to substrates e.g. metal foil, plastics films, paper etc. On exposure to light exposed portions cross-link and unexposed portions can then be removed with aq. alkaline developers such as NH3 or alkali hydroxides. Process is useful in prodn of printing plates and printed circuits boards.</p> |
