PURPOSE:To control the decomposition rate of an alkali chloride in an anode chamber and maintain the concn. of the alkali chloride in the chamber at a high level by supplying a satd. or almost satd. aq. soln. of the alkali chloride contg. the solid alkali chloride to the chamber. CONSTITUTION:A cell is divided into an anode chamber and a cathode chamber with a diaphragm, and a satd. or almost satd. aq. soln. of an alkali chloride is supplied to the anode chamber. The aq. soln. does not contain impurities such as Ca and Mg, and contains the same granular, powder or flaky solid alkali chloride having an average grain size of 10-300mu. EFFECT:When the dissolved alkali chloride is consumed by electrolysis, lowering the concn. of the alkali chloride, the solid alkali chloride contained is dissolved in the soln. to maintain the concn. of the alkali chloride in the anode chamber at a high level. |
