The rotary disc shaped cutter for mining and tunnelling operations has a helical shaped periphery into which are set pick holders which alternate with water spray jets (6). Each jet body has a hexagonal head and its stem (8) fits into a hole in the periphery, and is fed with water from a channel (10) at the rear through the rim. Each body has a slot (16, 17) through each side, to engage a pin fixed across the hole, forming a bayonet fastening. This pin, which may be hollow, i.e. made from bent strip is at right angles to the centre line of the jet body.
