The device for shunting rail-bound rolling-stock has a shunting wagon running between rails and attached to a traction device with two arms for setting on opposite vehicle wheels. The arms swivel individually on its body, with a support stop for each, the two stops being linked like a pair of scales. The stops are in the form of pistons belonging to two piston-and-cylinder assemblies on the wagon body. The chambers in these are interconnected by a compensating lead with a modulating piston-and-cylinder assembly connected to this lead.
