The electronic component's wires are connected to a printed circuit board simply by looping the ends of the wires back on themselves to make a kind of spring that presses outwards against the conducting inside of the hole in the board. Instead of being folded back on itself, the wire may be looped in a vertical plane, coiled in a horizontal plane (helix) or just have a kink set into it. In all cases the wire's deformation behaves as a contact spring acting radially.
|
