The switch control box (4) of the built in appliance, eg. oven, hob, washing machine or the like is located at the top of the appliance door where it can be infinitely displaced horizontally relative to the door (3). This means that the built-in unit can be fitted to lie flush with the surrounding furniture or be fitted with an additional cover door whilst the controls are still accessible. The control box housing can have two oblong holes (11, 11') through which retaining screws (12) can engage on an angle member (6) connected to the hob frame.
