PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver assist system capable of finding a route, which extends in the vicinity of an own vehicle, by upgrading assistance to be given to a driver who drives the own vehicle.SOLUTION: A method and system 1 for assisting a driver physically senses an environment of an own vehicle and produces a representation of the environment of the own vehicle. The representation includes plural representation segments. Sensor data is analyzed in order to produce feature information. Future and/or previous moving behavior of a traffic object to be sensed is estimated, and a further feature of the environment is inferred from the estimated moving behavior. Thus, some of the representation segments to which the feature information deduced from analysis of the sensor data is appended are supplemented with a feature that is deduced by estimating moving behavior of a traffic participant. The representation including the deduced feature information is used to obtain a route preferable to the own vehicle, and a driver assist signal is produced and outputted.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
