Triazolylbenzophenone derivatives of the formula: (wherein R represents hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 halo-alkyl, the group -(CH2)n-X-R5, or the group R5 represents hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl, C2-C6 alkenyl, C2-C6 alkynyl, C6-C10 aryl, or C2-C8 acyl; X represents sulfur or oxygen; n represents 0, 1, 2, or 3; R6 and R7 each represents hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl; or the group represents pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino, or gamma -methylpiperazino; R1 represents hydrogen or halogen; R2 represents halogen, nitro, or trifluoromethyl; R3 represents C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 halo-alkyl, C1-C6 azido-alkyl, C6-C10 aryl, C2-C8 acyl, or the group R4 and R8 each represents hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl, or C7-C10 aralkyl; R9 represents hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl; R10 represents hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl, C7-C10 aralkyl, or C2-C11 alpha -amino-acyl; or the group represents phthalimido, pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino, or gamma -methylpiperazino) and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts, useful as anxiolytics, sedatives, hypnotics, anticonvulsants, muscle relaxants, antidepressants, their synthetic intermediates, and their preparation.
