Surgical knife forming incision for trocar insertion - has frontal cutting edge of selected width and shoulder for limiting insertion depth

The surgical knife is for making an incision of defined length and depth for the insertion of a trocar comprises a blade of a defined width (5-5) with a front cutting edge (4, 4) and a shoulder (7, 7) for limiting the incision depth. The edges (4) are symmetrical w.r.t. the central joint (3). A connecting portion (6) between the blade and the shoulder has a width not greater than the cutting width (5-5). The shoulder may be formed by an integral handle, particularly if the knife is made by stamping from sheet metal. Alternatively, replaceable blades can be inserted in a re-usable handle.
