The discharge station is for containers laden with piece goods, having a buffer conveyor working with a transverse conveyor. The transverse conveyor (7) has, to the side of the buffer conveyor (1), a vertical transporter (22) receiving the containers (3), and which is equipped with a removal station (45) for the piece goods from them, and also a discharge station (47) for them. The removal station can be situated below the incoming buffer conveyor, and the discharge station below the removal station.
