A self-tapping screw for fixing plates or other covering or cladding members to purlins, beams or similar supports. The screw-threaded shank portion is formed of material of sufficient hardness to permit self-tapping. The head of the screw is a separate member in the form of a blind nut and is of a material which resists corrosion.
