The grinding or polishing tool is built up from a number of coaxially mounted discs (1). The grinding discs each consist of a flexible carrier in or on which abrasive material is embedded or mounted. The discs are mounted on a shaft or bolt (9) between two flanges (10). The diameters of the discs can be varied to give the grinding tool a particular contour. For increased flexibility, washers can be mounted between the discs.
