The coupling fits between coaxial shaft ends. In each of the latter (1, 2) there are two opposite coupling members (4, 5, 7, 8) protruding beyond the shaft periphery. These engage in corresponding pairs of lengthwise slots, offset from each other, in a sleeve enclosing the shaft ends, (9). The end portions of the sleeve can be of spring material, and the pairs of slots can be offset 90 deg. from each other. Each member can fit in a blind radial hole in the respective shaft end, or alternatively they can be pressed into radial drillings.
