The cable has flame-resistant extruded insulation or sheathing made of silicon rubber. The silicon rubber is made flame retardant by distributing asbestos fibres and/or glass fibres evenly throughout its cross-section. The fibres are mixed with the rubber before the insulation or sheathing is extruded. The fibres allow the cable to resist fire longer than it otherwise would.
