The process for the mfr. or repair of a perforated fireproof valve plate for a slide valve, applies a layer of fireproof material to the valve plate by thermal spraying. The coating material has a resistance against abrasion, erosion and corrosion by molten metal, which is the same or higher than that of the material of the plate. The plate surface has a recess, with side walls at an inclined angle or more than 45 deg., pref. 60 deg., and a depth of 2-6mm. The recess is overfilled with coating material, by flame spraying, arc spraying, detonation spraying, or plasma spraying. The coating layer is subsequently levelled by grinding. |
