A methyl-2-picolylmercaptan, derivatives thereof, and mixtures thereof are new compounds suitable for use as flavoring agents and have the following structural formula: <IMAGE> wherein R is an alkyl group containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms, hydrogen, acetyl, phenacyl, benzyl or allyl. Several methods for their preparation are also described. |
