<p>PURPOSE:To detect a tracking error signal with excellent S/N by recording a pilot signal on a track on which no coded data signal is recorded. CONSTITUTION:An information signal by one field is recorded on tracks A11 - A12 and a pilot signal is recorded on a track A22. In the next field, an information signal by one field is recorded on tracks B12 - B13 and a pilot signal is recorded on a track B23. Then a reproduction level difference between a pilot signal reproduced from a head of the track A12 for a head scanning period T3 and a pilot signal reproduced from a head of the track B12 for a head scanning period T4 is detected to form a tracking error signal. Thus, the tracking error signal is detected over the entire area of the track.</p> |
