摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To optimize the operation of a rolling mill by controlling a separating force between rolls and the speed of a driving device by inputting into a controller a separating force capacity in a rolling mill structure, a driving torque capacity, the sliding of the roll, the maximum pass rolling reduction, a parameter of a rolling stock or the like and obtaining a bit of pass information. CONSTITUTION: The bearable separating force capacity in the rolling mill, the driving torque capacity in the driving device, the characteristic of the stock to be rolled and the desired dimension to be rolled are stored in the controller. Further, the maximum allowable rolling reduction of the stock to be rolled which passes through respective passes is stored. A pass rolling reduction schedule is calculated from respective stored values, and a calculation for deciding the minimum dimension of the stock to be rolled which can be realized by the rolling mill is repeated every pass under the condition of the separating force capacity in the rolling mill structure body, the driving torque capacity, the sliding of the roll to the workpiece stock, the maximum allowable pass rolling reduction and the desired dimension of the stock to be rolled. The optimal operation of the rolling mill is executed by controlling the separating force between work rolls and the speed of the driving device by the use of the calculated pass schedule.</p>
