<p>The parent patent describes mounting of glass panels for windows or skylights in clamps with sleeve channels bonded to the glass by a flexible adhesive such as polysulphide resin with a shear strength of typically 10-15 kg/cm2. This addn. describes use of sleeves fitted with small collars which can be charged after assembly with a cold-setting rigid adhesive of relatively high bond strength to the glass, e.g. an epoxy resin with a shear strength of 200-250 kg/cm2. Typically the harder resin is applied over an area of approx. 5 cm2 on each face of the glass at each point of support. The profile of the main clamps is modified to accommodate the collars of hard adhesive, pref. also features protrusions to align and key the root of a flexible seal inserted between the glass and the edge of the main clamp.</p> |
