An oil tank (2) (e.g. for hydraulic steering systems) has a filling orifice (8), an inlet (6) and an outlet (4) for oil circulation, and houses an exchangeable hollow cylindrical filter cartridge (24) which is accessible through the filling orifice (8) and is urged by a spring biased securing device 46 sealingly against a seat 22 surrounding inlet 6. The securing device 46 is anchorable on the rim of the filling orifice and comprises a lost motion joint consisting of two parts 36, 42 urged apart by a spring 58. Part 36 is integrally formed with a plug 32 which closes one end of the cartridge.
