<p>The ignition voltage generator is for internal i.c engines. The generator includes a power transistor circuit associated with the contact breaker that minimises erosion of the contacts due to currents continuing as the contacts open. The transistor (1) is connected in series with the gap (3) and the inductor primary (2), a silicon carbide element (4) across the transistor providing protection. A diode may be included in the base circuit (5) such that after a high negative excursion, succeeding pulses are unable to maintain a voltage across the gas sufficient to maintain ionisation.</p> |
