The stacking mandrel is fitted underneath the matrix on the sampling press operated by a hydraulic cylinder unit fitted underneath the level of the conveyor belt. This mandrel (21) consists of a vertical power cylinder unit with stationary piston rod (41) and reciprocating cylinder (40) flanged to a support plate (42). Parallel to the piston rod are column guides (43) to prevent canting of the cylinder. The actual stacking mandrel has a cross section corresponding to the shape of the stamped out opening in the workpiece and has a bushing (44) fitted over the cylinder (40) and is removed by loosening a screw (45). The power cylinder unit is double acting with pressurised medium connections (46) on the bottom of the cylinder and hollow end of the piston rod (41).
