<p>Wallpaper having a relief design of foamed material is made by coating a wallpaper substrate 1 with a foamable composition 7, preferably so as to form tracks or accumulations 7 of composition on the substrate using a roller applicator, and by then printing the coated substrate, while the coating or foamable composition 7 is still moist, with one or more different colouring matters 12, 12'. The composition is then caused to foam as a result of which the colour intensity of the colouring matter varies so that the colour intensity of the completed wallpaper varies in dependence upon the height of the foamed material above the substrate, thereby providing desirable aesthetic and optical effects. <IMAGE></p> |
