Motor vehicle rear view mirror - has driven screw and brake actuator rotating mirror about two axes

The rear view mirror in a motor vehicle is held on an adjusting mechanism. Manual adjustment is possible and overload protector is provided. The movable mirror is secured firmly in the adjusted position. The adjusting element has a gear wheel engaging with an actuating screw spindle. A spring pushes the gear wheel sideways against the friction surface of the actuator for braking and locking. The screw system rotates the rear view mirror about two mutually perpendicular axes in the mirror plane with intersection at the mirror plane centre.
