<p>PURPOSE:To permit an easy decomposition of nitrous oxides in an unprocessed fluid into nitrogen and oxygen by generating glow discharge plasma between a flat plate electrode and a saw-toothed plate electrode by voltage application to activate the fluid with the plasma. CONSTITUTION:Opposite flat plate electrodes 100 are provided facing each of the upper and lower surfaces having sawlike notches of a flat plate electrode 101 and equally spaced from the latter electrode. The flat plates 102 made of a dielectric consisting of alumina porcelain, etc., are interposed between the electrodes 101 and 100 in contact with the latter. AC electric source 8 or pulse source is connected between the electrodes 100 and 101 to generate glow discharge plasma through which an unprocessed fluid is passed for activation, resulting in an easy decomposition of nitrogen suboxides in the fluid into nitrogen and oxygen. The flat dielectric plate 102 provided on the surface of the flat plate electrode 100 prevents a change from the glow discharge to the arc discharge.</p> |
