<p>O-(2,6-dichloroanilino) phenylacetic acid, known as a non-steroidic analgesic and anti-inflammatory under the general name of "Diclofenac" is prepared by hydrolyzing N-(sub-stituted or unsubstituted)-benzoyl-N-(o-cyanomethyl or alkoxycarbonylmethylphenyl)-2,6-dichlorophenylamine. The intermediate material may be prepared by Chapman Rearrangement of 2,6-dichlorophenyl-N-(o-cyanomethyl or alkoxycarbonylmethylphenyl)benzimidate, which may be made by reacting 2,6-di-chlorophenol with N-(o-cyanomethyl or alkoxycarbonylmethylphenyl)-(substituted or non-substituted) benzimidoyl chloride.</p> |
