1461498 Clutch control JAWA NARODNI PODNIK 10 April 1974 [16 April 1973] 15942/74 Heading F2L A friction clutch 10, 11, 12 is disengaged through a fluid column 7 by pivoting of a control lever 2, and engaged by movement of an additional means (button 15 in the embodiment shown) in the same direction as that in which the lever 2 is pivoted to cause disengagement. The lever 2 moves a piston 5 in a cylinder 6 to disengage the clutch, and the button 15 is operated to open a valve 14 to thereby engage the clutch as fluid fills a chamber 17, moving a piston 18. Release of lever 2 allows spring 20 to pivot it back, and so piston 5 to suck fluid from chamber 17 into chamber 16 and return piston 18 to the illustrated position. In a second embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the control button 15 has an extension so that it can be operated by lever 2 on further movement in the disengaging direction. A further embodiment has a check valve between chamber 6 and the clutch so that the clutch remains disengaged after pivoting of lever 2 until a button is depressed to open the valve. The clutch control may be employed in a motor cycle used in dirt-track racing. |
