Direct current motor stator design - gives high power weight ratio by using compensating pole technique, and there is system of air ducts

A direct current motor stator is designed to use a compensating pole technique and it has provision for air ducts in the stator to produce an improved power to weight ration. The design applies to morots with stators configurations of an outer to inner radius ratio of under 1.7. Primary poles (3) are provided there are four primary poles and thes have longitudinal slots (6) cut in them for compensating windings. Between these primary poles, compensating poles (4) are provided. Behind the primary poles, and within the compensating poles, cooling air ducts (7, 8, 9) are provided. The design of the stator lamination required to provide these features, is described.
